Accommodation in Tenerife - Hotels and Apartments

Holiday accommodation in Tenerife comes in a multitude of guises; here I’ll try to give a definition of the most common Tenerife accommodation options. Pensions are similar to British Bed and Breakfast establishments although some are purpose built rather than being part of someone’s normal house; these are also very similar to Hostales. Hotel accommodation in Tenerife follows the same patterns as in any other European country and needs no further explanation here.

Some of my favourite accommodation in Tenerife comes under the category of ‘Rural Tourism’; this can be in the form of small hotel accommodation, self catering houses or self catering apartments in a house, known in Spanish as Hoteles Rurales or Casas Rurales. This is a European Union initiative which involves grants being given to owners of old houses or historical buildings to enable them to repair and convert interesting buildings and to bring employment to the rural areas.

Time share is part of the Tenerife accommodation spectrum and is usually sold as an interchangeable package so that owning part of an apartment or villa entitles the owner, through a different organisation, to exchange his or her weeks for someone else’s in many places around the world. Run properly and sold ethically this can be a guarantee of good quality holiday accommodation.

Self catering accommodation in Tenerife offers an extremely wide choice to the holiday-maker in terms of size, quality and price. Studio apartments in Tenerife are single roomed, kitchenette/lounge/bedroom with separate bathroom usually with a very small balcony, sleeping facilities being in the form of sofa-beds or fold up beds. One and two bed-roomed Tenerife apartments are the most common although there are quite a number of three and even four bed-roomed units available.

For those seeking larger accommodation in Tenerife there are many villas in Tenerife, some in the central tourist areas but many around the various golf courses that are becoming increasingly popular amongst those looking for accommodation in Tenerife that provides quality and tranquillity.

As in the rest of the modern world much of the self catering holiday accommodation in Tenerife is being upgraded and the complexes themselves are being rated as hotels have done for years but with keys instead of stars to denote the quality and quantity of amenities available.

To make reservations in any form of Tenerife accommodation is becoming easier and easier, with the advent of the internet, searching for ones requirements is becoming more and more sophisticated saving huge amounts of time and of course with on-line booking monetary savings can be made as well.

Whichever form of Tenerife accommodation you choose may I wish you happy holidays and please come to see us again.
